The unique and precious nature of these aqeeq rings made them to be a symbol of wealth, social status, and power during those periods. The agate was a symbol of steadfastness and splendour during those days.

In the nineteenth century, the connoisseurs of jewelry began to wear aqeeq made from different semi precious gemstones to make it more beautiful and expensive. Especially, after the Victorian era, when women started wearing jewelry, these rings became popular among women. Today, they are considered as one of the most popular styles of jewelry worn by both men and women. The aqeeq made of gemstones such as amethyst, quartz, aquamarine, blue topaz, black onyx, carnelian, moissanite, jade, malachite, onyx, coral, taffeta, onyx, and citrine is quite popular with women of all age groups. These rings can also be found on the bodies of some famous celebrities.

Generally, the aqeeq made of gemstones have their own properties that make them unique. There are certain rules and procedures on how to care and maintain these rings. They must be properly cleaned at least once in a year. When cleaning these aqeeq, the gemstone must be soaked first in warm water before using a soft dry cotton cloth or scourer to clean the loose dust or particles of the aqeeq stone.
